Abstract

Currently, environmental exposure history in medicine remains focused on an etiological approach aimed at identifying environmental health risks. However, a growing number of studies demonstrate the health benefits of contact with nature. This article proposes an evolution in environmental history towards a health promotion approach that considers the environment not only as a threat, but also as a resource. We offer some framework elements to better assess patients' level of exposure to nature and to identify levers and resources that can be mobilized to promote lifestyles more in tune with nature. This framework provides practitioners with concrete proposals, enabling them to coconstruct personalized interventions.
