The thesis Boards of Directors and Stakeholders addresses the relationship between corporate boards of directors and stakeholders in three studies. Study 1 is an integrative and systematic literature review on stakeholder directors. Study 2 is a quantitative empirical study that examines the effect of institutional owners’ influence on stakeholder directors. Study 3 is a quantitative empirical study that develops and tests the board’s mindset toward stakeholders and its effect on corporate environmental performance. In addition to the three studies, the thesis is framed by a general introduction and an overall discussion.
