The intensification of urban densification in Geneva and the proliferation of infrastructure and construction projects generate significant volumes of excavated materials, the management of which raises major territorial issues. This study examines the potential for local reuse of these materials, in line with a circular economy approach, and assesses the environmental, societal, and landscape implications.

The landscape plays a central role in this context. It is at once a living environment, a medium for perception, and a vector of acceptability. It provides a privileged prism for analyzing the challenges and resistance associated with the implementation of recovery projects. It also offers the opportunity to rethink the integration and transformation of potential host sites, placing them within a sustainable, sensitive, and shared territorial vision.

By considering these landfill sites as resources rather than mere storage spaces, this approach opens up perspectives in which excavated materials are no longer perceived as waste to be disposed of, but as levers for ambitious landscaping and territorial projects, reconciling the imperatives of urbanization with collective well-being.
