With the increasing consumer expectations and regulatory requirements, the European freight transport sector is faced with the difficult task of balancing shifting market trends with sustainable growth. The paper analyzes the logistics industry in light of sustainability, looking into different market requirements and strategies companies adopt to address the future challenges. The study focuses on a comparative, benchmarking case study of the internship company and the green logistics frontrunner, DSV. The research is supported by valuable experience gained during the internship. Through the internship insights on internal sustainability management and the analysis of the companies’ varied responses to external pressures, key recommendations are identified. These include the focus on ESG integration and transparency, particularly in the data and reporting areas, investment into alternative technologies and low-carbon transport services, development of an internal carbon price systems, and collaboration with industry peers on joint decarbonization.
