Abstract

Several modifications have been proposed in the «Head space» method for the determination of alcohol in blood. These modifications, to some extent, offer a greater technical flexibility with regards to physical parameters such as sampling, temperature, time and ionic strength. An accurate and precise determination of ethanol in the range of 0.5‰o—2.5‰ can be made with a maximum coefficient of variation of 2.5% (95% probability). The detection limit is about 0.01‰ and the calibration graph is linear up to 10‰.
