Abstract

This thesis focuses on the practice of walking among seniors. It explores the issue of urban transition and its implications for mobility, questioning the role of walking in the organization of cities.

This work challenges the relevance of traditional walkability studies, as they often fail to adequately consider the needs of vulnerable populations such as seniors or people with reduced mobility. Therefore, this thesis proposes to test the use of a walkability assessment grid developed as part of the Senior Walking project (MAPISE), in order to evaluate the walkability potential of an area in the city of Nyon.

Through an approach that combines theory, literature review, and practical case study, this research aims to provide insights and recommendations to improve walking practices among seniors.
