Catamenial anaphylaxis refers to anaphylactic episodes occurring at the time of menstruation. This condition is likely underrecognized, because of poor reporting from patients and insufficient awareness and lack of menstrual history exploration by health care providers. Menstrual suppression using a continuous regimen of combined oral contraceptive pill, norethisterone acetate, or levonorgestrel-intrauterine device may be effective at controlling symptoms of catamenial anaphylaxis.
