Background : According to recent estimates, 500 000 women have or are at risk of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Europe and 14 700 in Switzerland.In Geneva, 6% of the population are asylum seekers, mainly from African countries where FGM is prevalent. No study exists on cervical dysplasia prevalence after FGM. Prevalence of severe dysplasia (HSIL+) in sub-Sahara African countries is estimated at 2.5%–3%; in Switzerland it's 0.58%.

Objective : To assess the prevalence of HSIL+ among women with FGM at at the Department of Gynecology of the Geneva University Hospitals.

Methods : Retrospective review of 619 consecutive medical files of the outpatients' clinic for women with FGM between 2010 and 2016. FGM type were recorded after gynecological exam and cervical screening performed.

Results : 368 women were included, average age 34.3 years old, mainly from Eritrea and Somalia (n=225, 61.14%). Most have FGM type 3 (n=205, 55,87 %). The prevalence of (HSIL+) was 2.98%.

Conclusions : Migrant women with FGM, who are known to be at risk of long term urogynecological, sexual and obstetric negative consequences, seem also to have a significant high prevalence of cervical dysplasia HSIL.
