This section presents representative examples of results of chemical analyses of major nutrients and chemical parameters and should help to give a general overview of the chemistry of the lake. The physical and chemical conditions of the water were analyzed regularly during the summer for the past 16 years. The water of Lake Cadagno shows a permanent stratification and its stability was confirmed by the measured parameters over a long period of time. Such an ecosystem provides a good opportunity to study the metabolisms connected with eutrophication on a stable model, as it is well-known that one of the advanced stages of eutrophication is biogenic meromixis.
