Abstract

Homelessness is a growing social phenomenon in Europe and Switzerland. It is recognized that the homeless population has a poorer health status than the general population due to various barriers to accessing the healthcare system, including preventive health interventions. To meet these challenges, it is imperative to develop innovative and multisectoral approaches, focusing on health promotion, improving access to care, and coordinating efforts between the various actors in the social and healthcare sectors. Such an approach is being developed in Geneva, where a pilot project has been launched to address the specific health needs of homeless people. This project is based on a close collaboration between different health and social service providers, aiming at creating a care and support network that is accessible and adapted to this population.
