Abstract

Posing the problem of the relations between the belonging of an inclividual to an ethny and the ethnie origin of the containers he uses, we evaluate the correspondences which exist between the marriage areas of the populations, the diffusion areas and the surfaces of acquisition of the containers.

This model of circulation of the potteries shows that a ceramic tradition is superposed over a group with a tendancy towards endogamy, within which are organized commercial exchanges. This matrimonial group, as well as a commercial network, contributes to a technological and stylistic standardization of ceramics, which are produced and, consequently, circulate, within it.
