Total amounts of Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn have been determined according to Suisse Soil Order (Osol) procedure on 203 sites distributed in four regions of Canton Geneva

— no significant differences according to heavy and medium soil texture, caracteristic of the canton, have been observed. Sensibly lower values are detected in few fields of light texture;

— for all elements analysed, levels are in increasing order woodland < cropland < vineyard;

— high levels of Cu due to phytosanitary treatments are found in vineyards;

— in two regions (Satigny, Dardagny) levels of Cr and Ni above Osol guide values, are very likely due to soil composition rich in green serpentine rocks.
