Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has shown significant potential in enhancing healthcare diagnostics. This systematic review aims to present and synthesize current evidence on AI applications in orthodontic diagnostics, analyzing their accuracy, efficiency, and possible clinical impact. A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, Web of Science and Cochrane Library for studies published between 2014 and 2024. Of 1,024 initially identified articles, 37 met the inclusion criteria. Main orthodontic applications were cephalometric analysis, tooth segmentation, and malocclusion classification. AI demonstrated high accuracy across applications and significant time savings compared to traditional methods. Future research should focus on prospective clinical trials and the development of standardized guidelines for AI implementation in orthodontic practice.
