Today it is possible to recognize that we inhabit a world amid social and environmental collapse. Therefore, in the face of uncertainty about the future of our societies, this paper poses the following question: in what way can the narrative exercise of Speculative Fiction (SF) become a space to build possibilities for the future of Latin America? The multiple nuances of SF are presented as propitious for the construction of narratives that embrace a wide diversity when thinking about the future of Latin America. As an example of this, we approach, first, the novel La mirada de las plantas (2022), to examine the possibility of leaving a scheme of thought dominated by the capitalist system and conceive a world where humans, non-humans and machines cohabit the planet. Then, the novel Chmanes eléctricos en la fiesta del sol (2024), allows us to explore the thematic axes of time and territory that articulate a proposal for understanding life.
