Individual behaviors have a major impact on the current climatic issue. To avoid disastrous future consequences, enhancing individual pro-environmental behaviors (PEB) is essential. To reach this objective, research in environmental psychology identified the Warm Glow (WG), environmental self-efficacy and environmental locus of control as psychological determinants of PEB. This study aimed to increase the WG and PEB using positive emotions inoculation. Participants were assigned to a positive emotions inoculation or a control group before completing a pro-environmental behavioral task named the WEPT. Additionally, environmental self-efficacy and locus of control were assessed to examine their influence on PEB. Our results suggested no evidence supporting an effect of our inoculation manipulation on enhancing both WG and PEB. Nonetheless, our results indicated that the environmental locus of control significantly predicted the PEB, whereas environmental self-efficacy did not. These findings emphasize the need for further research exploring alternative behavioral techniques to activate the WG and therefore increase PEB.
