This article highlights the importance of very early screening and intervention to prevent psycho-developmental disorders in children, and to prepare them for successful integration into school. It describes a model for intervention by psychologists in early childhood institutions and illustrates it with a field situation. The Early Intervention Therapeutic Team (EITP) works in the Early Childhood Care Services (SAPE) in the canton of Geneva, Switzerland, which welcome with pre-school children. This model is discussed in the light of changing needs and the sociocultural context.
