This dissertation aims to situate the emerging scholarship of pentecostal theology within contemporary political theology and to offer constructive reflections for further development. Reference to the debate between Augustinian democrats and neo-traditionalists helps identifying continuities and discontinuities between theologians, pentecostals and non-pentecostals. This study demonstrates the plurality and the richness of pentecostal political theology. The constructive part of the dissertation reflects on constructing a political theology out of the specificities of pentecostal spirituality. It identifies central theological convictions and spiritual practices as implicitly political. It engages these convictions and practices to develop their theopolitical meaning in a critical yet radically pentecostal direction. The result is a tentative (non-systematic) pentecostal political theology defined by its charismatic and apocalyptic character.
