Abstract

The non-exponential decay of the spin-spin proton relaxation in two elastomers (polybutadiene and polyisoprene) has revealed that the markoffian fast modulation of dipole-dipole interaction by motion of polymer segments is accompanied by a second type of modulation, slow and strongly coupled to the heat bath, caused by cooperative motion of polymer chains.
