Abstract

This article first presents the archiving policy of the Archives Jean Piaget (abbreviated AJP) from the perspective of the receipt in 2011 of a donation of the entire Jean Piaget archives and library. One of the objectives of this policy, developed by a team of historians, librarians, archivists and psychologists, was to maximize the principle of respect for the creator's order, even though the deposit itself had the appearance of chaos. But it was organized chaos. Unlike many other archives, where it was completely lost, here the organization of the creator was partially preserved, emphasizing an archival boundary of a spatial nature. It was necessary to be aware of the constraints of the spatial dimension in order to decide how to fix its memory through different strategies. This archival policy is interpreted within the framework of the C.R.C.A. model, insofar as it coincided with a historian's research project that makes partial use of this collection, which is currently being inventoried. Secondly, we demonstrated the effectiveness of this archival policy, which takes into account the proxemic dimension. In fact, part of the research carried out on the fonds has led to the identification of a series of unpublished works by Jean Piaget, both through immersion in the extraction of documents and through the use of proxemic keys created among the finding aids.
