The taxonomy of the species lochroma gesnerioides (Solanaceae) is reviewed. The morphology of the aerial parts of this plant, as well as the anatomy of the stems, roots and leaves are described in detail. The covering trichomes of the leaves are particularly ramified and numerous, they were observed by means of a scanning electron microscope. The xylem of the stems and roots is characterized by the presence of many short fibres with numerous pits, lined up in the radial direction.
