Abstract

A new, rare and possibly endangered species of the genus Hyphessobrycon, from an isolated basin in Paraguay, is described and compared with the other species of the genus (s.auct.) from the Parana-Paraguay basin, as well as with some, more or less similar, species from Central and South America.
