Larry Nassar was a doctor of osteopathic medicine and was the doctor of the United States women's national artistic gymnastics team. Nassar was charged with sexually assaulting more than 250 female gymnasts, and in January 2018 he was sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison. He appealed the decision, arguing that the judge had been biased and had had a prejudice against him. For this reason, he filed a motion for resentencing and a motion for disqualification of the sentencing judge, but they have been rejected by the Michigan Court of Appeals. Larry Nassar’s case has had a huge impact all around the world and many gymnasts from other countries have spoken up about being victims of different types of abuse.
