Abstract

The sesquiterpene (±)chokol-A (1) was synthesized in a diastereoselective manner starting from 1-hexen-5-one-trisylhydrazone (5). The key step 7 → 8 involves the regio- and stereo-selective magnesium-ene reaction 4 → 3.
