The distribution of the Ostracodes within the salt -works of Salin-de-Giraud is comparable with that of the Foraminifera. Also their upper limit of tolerance to salinity is in the neighborhood of 50 to 80 g/l NaCl (doubtfully up to 150 g/l). There are however some quantitative differences in the distribution of Ostracodes and foraminifera. Also the microdistribution of the Ostracodes heterogenous and depends on the substratum. It was however noticed that Ostracodes do not live within the algal mats. Very different associations of Ostracodes live on the littoral of the Gulf of Beauduc and in the salt-works.
