Étude palynostratigraphique des sédiments paléogènes de la Grande Limagne (Massif central)

Publication date1975
Abstract

The Upper Eocene to Oligocene sedimentary sequence of the Grande Limagne Basin, Massif central, France, have been subdivided into 6 palynostratigraphic zones defined by spores and pollen and by quantitative variations of botanic groups and the laguno-marine plankton. A single sample of Lower Miocene age has also been palynologically examined. On the basis of the palynologic features of the 6 zones of the Grande Limagne Basin its tectonic, paleoclimatologic and palogeographic evolution is discussed. Comparisons are made between the palynology of the Grande Limagne Basin and that of the Paris Basin, the Rheintal and Rhônetal graben, Belgium, Southern England and Germany.
