Abstract

A Carboniferous section at Taninges (Haute-Savoie, France) has been studied petrographically and palaeobotanically. The section consists of a succession of sandstones, shales and coal beds, and is approximately 100 meters thick. It is part of a wildflysch lens. Newly discovered plants and spores indicate a Westphalian A age. Flora and facies are characteristic of a paludal environment.
