Behavior of chalcophile metals during magmatic sulfide saturation

Imprimatur date2021-05-03

Abstract

The present thesis includes a general introduction to the problematics, basic terminology and to the general aim and approach of this study. This is then followed by a detailed description of the geological and geodynamic settings of each study area investigated here as well as of any known and related to these areas’ economic mineralisation. The thesis is then separated in four chapters, each of which include the following sections; introduction, analytical methods, results, discussion and chapter conclusions. Finally, the fifth and last chapter includes a general conclusions and implications part which is followed by future research directions. The references and supplementary material are reported in the end of the thesis. Each of the chapters is considered as an individual body of work using different research approaches with the common goal of investigating the behavior of chalcophile elements during magmatic sulfide saturation in order to understand the role of this process for ore formation. A small general description for each chapter is presented briefly below.

Keywords
  • Magmatic sulfide saturation
  • Sulfide inclusions
  • Chalcophile element partitioning
  • Magma fertility
  • Porphyry Cu deposits
