Abstract

It has been shown that addition of chlorine to hexamethyl-Dewar-benzene is a stereospecific process and yields exclusively 5-endo-chloro-hexamethyl-bicyclo[2.1.1]hexenyl chloride. This supports the suitability of SbCl5 as a model reagent for olefin chlorination.
