Abstract

In theory, humans produce an equal proportion of boys and girls. However, neither at conception nor at birth are both sexes equally represented. Environmental and individual changes are thought to play a role in the observed sex-ratiodeviations. One of the key-mediator may be the individual (genetic) and environmental hormonal variations and their influence on gametogenesis, embryo implantation and development.
