Abstract

New regio- and diastereoselective processes have been developed in which furanolates are efficiently transformed into substituted γ-lactones and furans. The power of the methodology is illustrated by the syntheses of siphonodictidine, pleraplysillin-2, cavernosine, bromobeckerelide, acetoxyfimbrolide, and related marine natural products.
