Eating disorders affect women of childbearing age. The literature on the effects of a maternal eating disorder on pregnancy and pregnancy outcomes, and the effects of pregnancy on eating disorders, is limited. However, most studies seem to suggest that eating disorder symptomatology decreases during pregnancy with a recrudescence postpartum. Eating disorders also have potentially negative effects on pregnancy outcomes, as most of the literature suggests. The literature on the course of eating disorders on pregnancy and on pregnancy outcomes in women with eating disorders is reviewed.
