The foraminifer Melathrokerion valserinensis, n. gen., n. sp., is characterised by a planispiral, involute multilocular test, areal aperture, and a microgranular-agglutinated calcareous wall with a secreted calcareous pseudoalveolar structure extending over roof and flanks of the adult chambers. Melathrokerion valserinensis, n. gen., n. sp., has been reported from the Upper Barrernian, urgonian facies, Jura mountains, W of Geneva, France, the Barremian of Provence, France, the Aptian-Albian transition, Puerto de las Alisas, Province of Santander, Spain, and the Walnut Clay, Albian, at Mount Barker, Texas, U.S.A.
