The main work carried out with the electronic microscope on thin sections is reviewed. A method of infiltration and impregnation of the structure of the oolites with Epon or Araldite is described. The thin sections obtained with the ultramicrotome give interesting and new information on the internal structure, the porosity and the size of the crystals of Goethite, the mineral of which the Oolithes are built.
