The crystal morphology of kaolinite from specimens of Sidérolithique and liassic laterite from the Prealps has been studied and compared with that of kaolinite, produced by experimental weathering, which has been described by other authors. Kaolinites from various sands and clays of the Sidérolithique are all very similar in form, whereas the crystal form of kaolinite from the laterite is distinct.
