With the ageing of western societies that can also be observed in Switzerland, scientific research on elderly migrants is gaining importance. This thesis contains two scientific articles, approaching the same subject with two different methods. The first article is based on quantitative methods and analyses the economic vulnerability and the health status among the retired (natives and immigrants) in Switzerland. The article mainly applies logistic regression models on the VLV-database. The second article is based on qualitative methods and analyses financial and health-related difficulties of pensioners in Switzerland. A content analysis of 20 interviews led with Swiss-born and German-born individuals was conducted. An overall conclusion summarizes the results and reflects on the experience of doing this two-fold analysis.
