Abstract The thesis will discuss the main aspects of polydiacetylenes. This initial discussion starts from the general aspects known in the field with examples of applications for polydiacetylenes. It then continues into the polymerisation observed through infrared spectroscopy, the study of a novel type of polydiacetylene to peptides and terminates with the resolve of a technological limitation which could have had the potential of limiting our progress.
