Abstract

An antifungal acetophenone glycoside has been isolated from the methanol extract of the roots of Ribes rubrum (Saxifragaceae). The structure was established by spectrometric (UV, mass spectrometry, and H-1 and C-13 NMR) and chemical methods. Extracts of four different tissues of R. rubrum, the fruits, leaves, stem bark, and roots, have been compared by use of HPLC combined with UV detection and electrospray-ionization mass spectrometry (ES-MS).
