Abstract Physical activity is recommended for all patients with diabetes, but it is important to be particularly attentive in patients with type 1 diabetes. Because of their treatment, these patients have a higher risk of hypoglycemia. The challenge for both caregivers and the patient is to find the best possible strategy to practice the desired physical activity without any significant hypo- or hyperglycemia. Thus, an adaptation of the insulin and/or nutritional treatment is necessary, depending on the type, intensity and duration of the physical activity. Moreover, many technological devices are now available that can improve patient care, but they also have some limitations to take into account. Allover, an interdisciplinary approach is highly recommended, both for a specific or a regular physical activity practice.
