This is an interesting field of research where much progress has been made in the last two decades, both experimentally and theoretically. We first focus on entanglement entropy as a way to quantify entanglement in condensed matter systems. After that, we discuss the distribution of waiting times between successive transmission events in a nano-scale conductor. This quantity has been suggested as a means to characterize the short-time physics of a stochastic transport process, complementary to the full counting statistics of transferred charge. Finally, we demonstrate that the coupling to environmental modes in scanning tunneling spectroscopy experiments can have a visible effect in the current characteristic of nano-scale systems.
