Their virulence in immunocompetent hosts is low; therefore, they are usually considered to be contaminants of cultures. In the present study, we describe a patient who had severe traumatic injury with an Absidia infection, who developed intolerance to antifungal treatment with amphotericin B, but responded to posaconazole treatment.
