To comply with their obligations, these countries can reduce part of their emissions in developing countries through a mechanism known as the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and make these emission reductions count towards the fulfillment of their individual objectives. First, results of the thesis show that policies in developing countries could influence technology transfer through CDM projects. Second, developing countries could take advantage of unilateral investment in CDM projects if they have access to financial resources. Third, the analysis of support policies for the development of renewable energy power in nine Indian States shows that the diffusion of clean technologies can be promoted through the introduction of quotas and a greater participation of the private sector.
