As a modern saint, Mother Maria Skobtsova played the role of mother and unconditional acceptor of all people, regardless of religion or origin. She had a deep sense of unity. She supported marginalized groups and shared her spiritual and artistic talents with the community. Her work bridged theology, witness, and diakonia. While innovative for her time, she stayed connected to the church’s traditional roots. This provided rich material for dialogue and offered important lessons for the modern world. Mother Maria’s work was grounded in the Gospel, which serves as the universal foundation for all Christians. The core of her service was her unconditional love for humanity, viewing all as created in the image of God (Imago Dei). This thesis explores her social work, academic and creative contributions, and spiritual dedication. It seeks to answer how the life and witness of Mother Maria can be a model for cultural dialogue and ecumenical perspectives. The first chapter examines Maria Skobtsova’s theological and intellectual engagement. It presents her as the "Poet of the Living Gospel" and a theologian-philosopher. The second chapter looks at the global and ecumenical messages found in her life and work. It focuses on themes like ecumenical openness, Christian unity, Diakonia, and philanthropy as "Liturgy after Liturgy," and Mother Maria as a pioneering Orthodox female witness in ecumenical engagement. The chapter also discusses sainthood as a form of otherness.
