This mémoire shows at the example of news translation that the role of translator can go over the classic understanding of translators as invisible interventionists. News translation requires special skills that go far beyond linguistics. The translator needs to act as intercultural mediator and as such carries a huge responsibility, especially in times of conflicts. At the example of the relations between Middle East and the Western World, this theses shows how news translators can help to overcome borders through their special understanding of cultural associations of certain words and through consistent interventions in the text according to the ethics of press.
