Abstract

This thesis explores the design and implementation of a digital shared medication plan (SDMP) within healthcare services. Across three main studies, the research highlights the importance of the SDMP's collaborative management, bringing to light challenges and perspectives by combining various viewpoints, theoretical approaches, and methods. Employing multiple participatory action research strategies, the experiences of healthcare professionals were examined, followed by the direct engagement of patients and their families in the SDMP's management. This work uncovers the potential of such a partnership-supporting approach, which has not been utilized in national e-medication systems so far. Additionally, the development of a discrete choice experiment method offers an innovative tool for gathering insights on public preferences and capabilities regarding the SDMP, and for estimating its adoption in different potential scenarios. This holistic analysis underscores the critical need for collaborative efforts among technological, clinical, and policy stakeholders.
