Abstract

Hernia repair is often associated with pain and mesh repair has become a standard procedure in most countries. Local anaesthetics (LAs) such as lidocaine have proven to be efficient in alleviating this postoperative symptoms and finding a drug delivery system that allows the administration of lidocaine locally and without the need of infusion would help reducing convalescence and improving recovery. Electrospinning allows the incorporation of the drug within a nanofiber and later its release.
