The rich mosaic of Italian migration has been portrayed and analyzed from different angles and through different methodological approaches, throughout time and space. The aim of this monographic volume is to offer a fresh interpretative line, using three key concepts – Catastrophe, Fordism and Migration – which allow us to reinterpret the history of migration as a Global History. Furthermore, this collective work aims to be the first of a series that intends to recover from oblivion the last catastrophe of the Italian emigration – «Mattmark, the Forgotten Marcinelle» – 50 years on from August 30th, 1965.
