Motional effects in the EPR spectrum of an O2- molecule ion in natural CaF2 crystals

Abstract

An EPR investigation on motional effects of a new O2− center in CaF2 crystals is reported. The system involves one librational degree of freedom with the associated potential function being of a disymmetric double well shape. At low temperatures the center is located essentially in the deeper well. At higher temperatures it jumps between the wells due to thermal activation. The paper deals with the effects on the EPR spectrum.
