Abstract

A very strong axial Zero Field Splitting is found for the ground state (6S5/2) of the Mn2+ in the cubic phase of Mg-Cl, Zn-Cl, Zn-Br and Zn-I Boracites going from 1.6 cm-1 for Zn-Cl to 3.8 cm-1 for Zn-I.
