Abstract

A detailed EPR investigation is reported about a perturbed O₂^- molecule ion introduced into SrCl₂ single crystals. The O₂^- is associated with an alkali cation located on a next nearest neighbour lattice site. The local distortions produced by this alkali ion influence the orientation of the O₂^- molecule ion.
